In the early 1990's, I began construction on a couple of ponds on my family farm in eastern Ontario. The larger of the two is just over two acres, the smaller approximately 3/4 of an acre. They are spring fed, but not particularly deep. The smaller pond has a much more active spring, that frequently keeps a section open even during very cold winters.
